BARGAINING UPDATE
BARGAINING UPDATE
LOCAL 655 MEMBERS WORKING AT KROGER
TROY, ROLLA, HANNIBAL, LOUISIANA & WARRENTON
Your Local Union Bargaining Committee has been meeting with Kroger since January 12, 2011, in an effort to get a reasonable contract offer to bring back to you for ratification.
Since then, your Employer is acting serious about having numerous “take-aways” in your next contract offer. . . take-aways that we believe are both unreasonable and unsupportable. Given the circumstances, we, along with some Illinois U.F.C.W. Local Unions currently negotiating with Kroger – Indianapolis, contacted the International Union and asked the International Union to assist the Locals in these negotiations. Additionally, we’ve had representatives from the various U.F.C.W. Local Unions sitting with each other in these Kroger negotiations to show our solidarity.
The purpose of all of this is NOT to attempt in any way to have the same contract for each of the separate bargaining units, but rather to let the Kroger Company know that we are united in saying NO TO ANY MORE TAKE-AWAYS IN THESE CONTRACTS. It just makes no sense and is an insult to both the current and future employees who do the work that keep these Missouri and Illinois stores going.
Most recently, we seem to be having trouble getting meeting dates from Kroger – Indy to continue these negotiations.
If the Kroger – Indy propaganda machine hasn’t already started cranking in your store, it will most likely start very shortly. However, regardless of when it starts, just consider the source.
Stay strong and say no to ANY cuts!!
Your Local 655, U.F.C.W. Bargaining Committee
