THE ACTIVE BALLOT CLUB (ABC)
 |
Show your union pride by becoming part of the UFCW Active Ballot Club! |
| |
| The Active Ballot Club (ABC) is the only political action committee that exclusively supports the interests of UFCW members, and we use this tool to fight back against attacks on workers currently happening in Missouri and threats to collective bargaining all over the country. With ABC we work towards combating issues that directly affect union members, including the so-called Right-to-Work law in 2011 that would have made Missouri a non-union state. It doesn’t stop there. Active Ballot Club makes our local union stronger by making it possible to maintain and build relationships with our elected officials on both sides of the aisle. Because of the strength of our Active Ballot Club, Local 655 can host Lobby Day events in Jefferson City to keep our legislators aware of what issues our members face in the workplace and keep our ability to fairly negotiate with our employers – a right many governors around the country would like to see go away. Active Ballot Club helps elect pro-worker candidates while stopping anti-worker agendas in every state. This would not be possible without the support from all of our members who are part of the Active Ballot Club. |

| The UFCW International’s Legislative and Political Action Department is proud to host the 2011 Active Ballot Club Contest. The second annual ABC contest will end on November 1, 2011. The rules of the 2011 ABC Contest are simple. We’re challenging all of our UFCW locals around the country to collectively sign-up 6,000 new ABC members. Plus, any UFCW member who signs-up to join the Active Ballot Club and agrees to contribute $1 or more per week, or any member who upgrades their contribution to the $1 level or more, will be entered to win one of twenty four American Express gift cards worth $500 each. Will it be your Union Representative who presents you with a $500 gift card this year? All you have to do is sign-up or upgrade your ABC contribution before November 1, 2011! |

| Sign-up here by downloading the ABC flyer and return to your union representative or mail to the Local 655 office. |

LABOR CLUBS
In many of the areas where our members reside, political labor clubs are active in local politics. These clubs are involved in interviewing, endorsing and supporting candidates in races from Fire Board and School Boards to Missouri State Representative and State Senate races. Most clubs meet once a month. For more information on how to become involved with the Labor Club in your area, check the directory below or contact your Union Representative.
